Impact Player Rule In IPL | The Clairifiers

The "Impact Player" rule was introduced in the Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket tournament in 2021.

Under this rule, each team can name one player in their playing XI (eleven) as their designated "Impact Player" before the start of the match. The impact player can be any player from the squad, and their selection is not mandatory.

The impact player can earn bonus points in the match based on their performances. If the impact player is a batsman and scores at least 40 runs, they earn 4 bonus points. If the impact player is a bowler and takes at least 2 wickets, they earn 4 bonus points. If the impact player is a fielder and takes at least 2 catches or effects a run-out, they earn 2 bonus points.

The bonus points earned by the impact player are added to the team's total points for the match, and can potentially influence their position in the IPL points table.
